| Highlights of the 2002 Season |
|
June, 8th.. Lancaster Motorsports Park. Shane runs second Cup Lites Race at Lancaster.. Grabs another
second place finish and also grabs the point lead in the Cup Lites Racing
Series. With this success early in the Cup Lites season, Shane is
considering running more races, and maybe take a run at the championship.
|
| May 11, Shane's second race of the season and his
very first NASCAR Touring race. Practice went very well with some great
lap times posted. Shane drew last in the qualifying lineup and driving very
conservatively for his first NASCAR show, he posted a qualifying time of only .274
seconds off the pole. Starting 15th, he ran a very steady and cautious race,
so that NASCAR could look favorably on him in granting him his truck license
for the Memphis and Richmond Races. With his first race having a top-ten
finish, Shane had a most successful weekend. The Dash cars were fun for him to
drive and he looks forward to his next race, scheduled for June 22, in Memphis.
He will be driving the "Cow Car" in the Dash series and pending final NASCAR
approval, will also be driving in the Craftsman Truck Race on the same day.
|
| May 4th.. Adirondack Speedway. Shane most likely will not run the entire
season of Cup Lites, but wanted to race at this new race track. Instead
of racing his own car, he rented a ride in a Bender rental car and easily came
in second after leading early in the race. If only he had put on new
tires!
